Privacy & data

Privacy, in plain words

Practising speaking can feel personal. Here is exactly what happens to your voice, your video and your data when you use SpeakUp.

Stays on your device

  • Your voice recordings. Speech is analysed by SpeakUp on your own computer or phone and is not uploaded to us.
  • Your camera video in Mock Interview. It is used on your device to check eye contact and posture, and is not uploaded.
  • The analysis itself. The speech and camera models run inside the app.

Saved to your account

  • Your account details — name, email or Login ID, and a phone number if you give one.
  • Your scores and progress, so you can see them on your other device.
  • Your plan and payment status — not your card or UPI details, which are handled by Razorpay.
  • Which devices are signed in, to allow one computer and one phone per account.

What we don't do

  • No face recognition. The camera never identifies who you are.
  • No emotion detection. We don't try to read how you feel.
  • No selling your data and no advertising in the app.
  • No recordings on our servers. We simply don't receive them.

Schools & colleges

For institutes and their students

Only what's needed

Institutes add each student's name. An email is optional for school students — it's only used to sign in and reset a forgotten password.

Teachers see their own classes

A Class Incharge sees the scores of students in their classes. The institute admin sees the whole institute.

Your institute's reports

Admins and Class Incharges can download progress reports as PDF or Excel whenever they need them.

Keeping it safe

How we protect your account

Encrypted connections

The app and website talk to our servers over HTTPS, so your sign-in details and scores are encrypted on the way.

Trusted sign-in and payments

Email sign-in uses Google Firebase Authentication. Payments go through Razorpay — we never see your card or UPI details.

Limited sign-ins

An account can be active on one computer and one phone at a time, which helps keep accounts personal.

Why SpeakUp goes online

To sign you in, to process a purchase and at least once a day to sync your scores. Practice analysis itself doesn't need our servers.
